  • While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle failing to maintain its lane.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer smelled an overwhelming odor similar to that of an adult beverage billowing through the open window. He also noticed that the driver’s eyes had a “glossy” appearance. When asked, the man claimed that he hadn’t had anything to drink and refused to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing.

A search of the vehicle based on probable cause revealed a small amount of marijuana, and an open container of alcohol. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the driver had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest, and charged with Speeding, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).
