The four main divisions of TIPD are Communications, Patrol, Investigations, and Administration.
Included in those are a limited number of special assignments such as School Resource Officer and K9 Handler.
Officers also have the opportunity to qualify for part-time assignments such as becoming a Drone Operator, or a member of Chatham County’s regional SWAT team.

Our administrative offices are generally open 8AM-4PM, Monday through Friday.
Meanwhile, our Patrol and Communications Divisions operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

Tybee Island police officers generally don’t enforce parking. That responsibility lies with the city’s Parking Services Division.
Questions or concerns about parking on the island should be directed to (912)472-5101 or their office at 1509 Strand Avenue, which is located at the base of the Tybee Island Pier.
Hours of operation for the office are currently listed as 8AM - 12PM and 1PM to 5PM, Tuesday through Friday.
