    29 Police Officers, 7 Communications Officers, and 2 dogs.

  • It depends on the role that you’re interested in:

    Starting pay for certified police officers on Tybee is currently $28.00/hour.

    Meanwhile, non-certified cadets earn $24.48/ hour until their successful graduation from the Georgia Public Safety Training Center or equivalent academy.

    Last, but certainly not least, Communications Officers start at $24.47/hour.

  • The City offers an excellent benefits package, including 100% coverage on medical and dental insurance for the employee, life insurance, long term disability, pension and FMLA leave.  All uniforms and equipment are provided.

  • While not guaranteed, we have been known to sponsor the right candidates as time, circumstances, and budgets allow.

    While winter typically means a lower call volume, our team often takes that opportunity to train in order to provide our residents and guests with the highest quality of law enforcement services possible.
