One of our officers received a report from a local golf cart rental company in reference to damage to property.

While speaking with our teammate, the owner of the company stated that a customer paid for a four-day rental of a gas-powered golf cart. Rather than return the cart, however, they left it parked at City Hall, forcing employees of the company to retrieve it. Upon inspection, the employees noted that the cart had sustained substantial damage, with repairs estimated to be in the thousands of dollars.

A report was filed, and the owner of the company was provided with information for follow-up.

  • While monitoring traffic, one of our officers checked the speed of a SUV at 50mph in a 35mph speed zone.

As part of the investigation, officers responded to the former employee’s residence in an effort to get his side of the story. When approached by our team, the man reportedly demanded that they “stay off his property”, before going inside of his house and slamming the door.

Later that day, the suspect called the police department to apologize for his behavior and assure officers that he was not a threat to anyone. He further stated that he planned to settle his disagreements with his former employer in court.

At that time, the kilt-wearer and his companions walked over to the complainant’s group, made several threats, and threw a beer can at their car.

Officers checked the area, but the suspects had apparently absconded on another adventure.

When asked, the complainant stated that he wasn’t interested in pursuing criminal charges and only asked that the kilted man work on his conflict resolution skills.

A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

During the course of this conversation, the officer noted that the suspect’s eyes were glossy and that he slurred his words as he spoke.
