One of our officers stopped a vehicle due to the occupants not wearing seatbelts.
While speaking with the officer, the driver claimed that she was “picking up passengers” from a local bar, because they “didn’t want to drive drunk". During this time, the officer was able to smell an overwhelming odor similar to that of an adult beverage billowing through the window. When confronted about the smell, the woman told the officer that her passenger had “Crown” in her cup. Despite her insistence on being a designated driver, the officer noticed that the woman’s eyes were red, and that she slurred her words when she spoke. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman originally replied, “None”, before changing her answer to having had “two drinks” several hours earlier.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Open Container and DUI (.08 grams or more).

While she didn’t think anything of it at first, over time the messages continued to get stranger and stranger, culminating with a message that said, “We’re sorry we took it too far”. After that, the victim removed the letters from the garage, and the activity ceased…for a while. Then, on Sunday, August 31st, the victim walked outside to find NEW letters on the garage, which spelled out the message, “We are back”.
The victim then provided the officer with surveillance video footage that she believes may help with the investigation. A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to our detectives.
