  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way on a one-way street and failing to maintain its lane.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were red and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage wafting through his open window. When asked how much alcohol he had consumed that evening, the man admitted to “a beer”.

During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were red and watery. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink flowing through his open window. When asked, the man reportedly said, “Of course I’ve been drinking, I drank till 4 o’ clock this morning”. During the course of their conversation, the officer asked the man if he would be willing to participate in field sobriety tests, “to make sure he was safe to drive”. The man repeatedly avoided answering the question, before eventually stating, “I’m not safe to drive”. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (Less Safe).
