• A woman came to the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to a possible theft.

    While speaking with one of our officers, the woman stated that she recently ended a contract with a company that had been hired to clean her short-term vacation rental. Following the end of their business relationship, the company has reportedly failed to return some of her spare linens which they kept in storage. According to the victim, the value of those items is estimated to be in the hundreds of dollars.

    A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.

  • One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration.

    During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the driver did not have a valid license. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

    An officer responded to a local condominium complex in reference to damage to property.

    While speaking with our teammate, the caller stated that the left rear window of his vehicle had been shattered by an unknown object.

    A report was filed, and the victim was provided with information for follow-up.

  • Officers responded to an address on Miller Avenue in reference to a woman who had been staying overnight inside of an otherwise vacant rental property without permission.

    During the course of the investigation, officers learned that the woman had previously expressed interest in renting the property. After obtaining a key in order to view the inside, however, she never left.

    She was then placed under arrest and charged with Criminal Trespass and Theft by Deception.

    Just after 3:00PM, Tybee Police and Fire Department personnel responded to North Beach in reference to a report of a trash can on fire.

    When the flames spread to the dunes, our team conducted traffic control, launched aerial assets, and supported the fire department in their efforts to battle the blaze. In the end, the fire was extinguished without injury, and with minimal property damage.

  • A concerned citizen came to the Tybee Island Police Department to turn over an iPad they found.

    The item was later retrieved by the rightful owner. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

  • One of our officers responded to a local hotel in reference to a possible theft.

    While speaking with our teammate, the victim indicated that he believes the hotel’s cleaning staff stole his belt.

    A report was filed, and the victim was provided with information for follow-up.

  • Officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to theft of services.

    While speaking with our team, the bartender stated that a customer had ordered food and an alcoholic drink. After the items were prepared and had arrived, however, the customer began to argue about the price. She then drank the drink and left the restaurant without paying.

    When asked, the owner of the restaurant declined to pursue criminal charges. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.
