Officers responded to a local bar in reference to a fight. While speaking with our team, a group of individuals claimed that the bartender attempted to fight a member of their party.

When asked about the incident, however, the bartender stated that a drink had been thrown at her, and a coworker restrained her to prevent the incident from becoming physical.

As such, the parties were separated, a report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

One of our officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to found property.

While speaking with our teammate, the caller provided him with a debit card they found near the pier. After taking custody of the card, the officer transported it to the Tybee Island Police Department where it was placed into a property locker for safekeeping.

A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Officers responded to a vacant lot in reference to a man passed out in the grass.

Upon their arrival, they found the individual lying on the ground and clutching a container of Four Loko. After waking the man, our team noticed that he was unsteady on his feet, and that there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink hovering around his body. During the course of the investigation, officers requested emergency medical personnel to check the man’s vital signs. After the medics completed their initial assessment, the man refused to be taken for further treatment.

When asked where he was staying, the subject produced a key card and claimed that it belonged to a local motel. After providing the man with a ride to the establishment, however, the officers found out that the room he claimed to be staying in didn’t exist, and the key card did not match others at the motel.

He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Public Drunkenness.

One of our officers responded to an address on Lovell Avenue in reference to a possible theft.

While speaking with our teammate, the victim stated that someone had stolen his bicycle from in front of his house the previous evening.

A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers responded to a short-term vacation rental on Chatham Avenue in reference to found property.

While speaking with the officer, employees of the management company provided him with a firearm that had been left behind by a previous tenant. After taking custody of the weapon, the officer transported it to the Tybee Island Police Department where it was placed into a property locker for safekeeping.

A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle traveling 48 mph in a 30-mph zone.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that his eyes were “glossy” and bloodshot. He also spotted an open pack of alcoholic beverages sitting in the back seat.

During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (Less Safe).

While monitoring traffic, one of our officers checked a vehicle’s speed at 73 mph in a 45-mph zone.

After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were “glossy” and her movements were sluggish. When asked, the woman stated that she had just left a local bar where she had two drinks.

During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to an address on 14th Street in reference to a stranger attempting to open the front door.

While speaking with the suspect, officers noticed that there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink hovering around his body. When asked where he was staying that evening, the man provided an address for a short-term vacation rental approximately four blocks away. Even after being confronted about this, the man continued to insist that he was at the right house.

After speaking with the occupants of the home, the officers placed the suspect under arrest and charged him with Public Drunkenness and Loitering and Prowling.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for a crosswalk violation.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were “glossy” and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage hovering around her body. When asked if she had anything to drink that day, the woman admitted to “a little bit”.

During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with a Crosswalk Violation, DUI (Less Safe), and Endangering a Child While DUI.

Our team responded to a report of a disorderly person harassing people on the pier.

While talking to the suspect, officers noticed that his eyes were watery and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage billowing from his breath. When asked for his identification, the man became agitated and repeatedly refused to provide it. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Public Drunkenness.
