One of our officers responded to the lobby of the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to a possible Hit and Run.
While speaking with our team, the victim stated the passenger side mirror of a truck struck the driver’s side mirror of her vehicle, as it illegally passed her on Highway 80. The truck then left the scene. A report was filed, and the victim was provided with information for follow-up.

Officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to Theft of Services.
While speaking with our team, restaurant staff stated that a party of fourteen walked out of the establishment without paying their $720.00 tab. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
Several days later, officers learned that someone from the group had called the restaurant and settled the bill. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to signal a turn.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot, and the lids were drooping. When asked the man admitted to having three beers approximately an hour before the stop.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Failure to Signal a Turn, and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to a local nursing home in reference to a missing patient. While speaking with staff members, our team learned that the man signed himself out the day prior and had not returned. Officers noted that the patient was of sound mind and under no legal obligation to come back. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Officers responded to the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to possible fraud.
While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she left a comment on a celebrity’s official Instagram page. Not long after, she received a message that the individual’s Public Relations person would be in touch. During the course of the subsequent conversations, the “PR team” convinced her to send over $155,000 to them through CashApp, Kracken, and the use of Cypto currency.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way on Tybrisa, a one-way street.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for traveling 55mph in a 35mph zone.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were bloodshot. There was also an open liquor bottle lying in plain view behind her seat. When asked, the woman admitted to having “one beer”. During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that she had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol.
She was then placed under arrest, and charged with Speeding, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a golf cart due to the fact that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt, and there was an open container of alcohol in the cupholder.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were red and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink coming from his body. When asked how much alcohol he had that evening, the man claimed that he had “a beer and a half”. During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the cart while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Golf Cart Violations, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to a local motel in reference to found property.
While speaking with our team, the caller provided them with an extended magazine for a handgun. The item was then transported to the Tybee Island Police Department, where it was placed into our evidence room for safekeeping.

Officers responded to a local souvenir store in reference to a possible theft.
While speaking with our team, the manager stated that someone had broken a glass case and stolen three pairs of RayBan sunglasses. The manager further stated that the owners were reviewing security footage from the store and would contact our agency if they found any evidence of use.
A report was filed, and the case was forwarded to investigations.

Officers responded to a local gas station after receiving a tip that they were using illegal credit card skimmers. An officer then inspected the credit card machine and all of their gas pumps, but did not find any evidence of a skimmer. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.
