• While on patrol, one of our officers checked a vehicle’s speed at 56 mph in a 45-mph zone. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed the female driver switching seats with her male passenger.

When asked about this, the 19-year-old female originally claimed that she wasn’t driving. After being confronted by the truth, however, the teen claimed that she switched seats because she “didn’t have her license”. During the course of their conversation, the officer noticed that the teen’s eyes were red and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also a strong odor similar to that of an adult beverage wafting through the vehicle’s open windows. During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the teen had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest, and charged with Speeding, No License on Person, and DUI (Under 21).
