While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle traveling the wrong way on Tybrisa Street.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were red and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor of marijuana billowing through the open window, and loose bits of marijuana scattered across the driver’s lap. As if that weren’t concerning enough, the officer also spotted several open containers of alcohol scattered throughout the vehicle. When asked about the various substances he had consumed that evening, the man admitted to smoking “one blunt” and drinking “nothin’ but a Cutwater.”
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One-Way Street, No License on Person, Open Container, and DUI (Under 21).

An officer responded to an address on Van Horne in reference to Damage to Property.
During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that a fence on the property had been damaged by an unknown vehicle. The cost to repair the damage was estimated to be approximately $400.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having a defective brake light and no tag lights.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage wafting through his open window. When asked how much alcohol he had that evening, the man admitted to “two Coronas” about an hour before.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Defective Equipment, Tag Light Violation, and DUI (Less Safe).

Shortly after midnight, one of our team members spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way on Inlet Avenue.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer immediately noticed a smell similar to that of an alcoholic drink wisping from within. There was also an open bottle of Jim Beam lying in the back floorboard. When asked how much alcohol he had that evening, the driver replied, “None”.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Seatbelt Violation, No License on Person, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers received a report in reference to lost property.
While speaking with our teammate, the caller stated that she believes she left a necklace in a short-term vacation rental. She further stated that she contacted the rental company several times, but had been told that no necklace had been turned in.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Later that same day, another officer received a report of missing jewelry.
While speaking with the officer, the victim stated that she lost her wedding ring in the ocean near 2nd Street.

That evening, one of our officers responded to an address on Jones Avenue in reference to a noise complaint.
Upon his arrival on scene, the officer found a large crowd of noisy young people in front of the residence. While speaking with the person responsible for the rental, the officer learned that she was staying at the house with eight other women, “but did not know where all the others came from”.
The crowd was instructed to leave the property, and the responsible party was issued a citation for the noise ordinance violation.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to yield to pedestrians in a marked crosswalk.
During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the driver had an active warrant through another jurisdiction. He was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for his non-local warrant.

Shortly after 11:00 PM, another officer stopped a vehicle for making an improper lane change and not having their taillights activated.
While talking to the teenaged driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage flowing through his open window. When asked how much alcohol he had that day, the teen admitted to “a little bit” several hours earlier.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the driver had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Improper Lane Change, Taillight Violation, Seatbelt Violation, Alcohol Use by a Minor, and DUI (Under 21).

Just after midnight, officers responded to Highway 80 in reference to an intoxicated man ripping signs out of the ground and throwing them.
While talking with a suspect, officers noticed that he was unsteady on his feet and that he slurred his words as he spoke. They also noticed that he had white paint residue on his hands, consistent with having pulled street signs out of the ground. During the course of the investigation, our team found that a total of 21 signs had been ripped from their proper places.
A witness stated that the suspect had thrown several of the signs into the path of oncoming cars, causing the cars to strike them. Officers also found that a private mailbox had been smashed into multiple pieces and left lying on the ground.
The suspect was ultimately placed under arrest, and charged with Public Drunkenness, Interference with Government Property, and Criminal Damage in the 2nd Degree.

Shortly before 3:00AM, an officer responded to a local bar in reference to an intoxicated individual.
Upon his arrival, the officer found an intoxicated teenager mumbling incoherently while sitting hunched over on some stairs. As the officer attempted to assist, the teen became argumentative, telling the officer to “f—- off” and referring to him by a homophobic slur. Despite the officer’s objections, the teen stood up and attempted to walk down the stairs. At one point, the teenager began to fall, prompting the officer to take hold and lower him to the ground. During this time the teen intentionally elbowed the officer in the leg and stomach. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Public Drunkenness and Felony Obstruction.

Later that afternoon, one of our officers responded to the area of Tybrisa Street in reference to a report of a woman who was “incoherent” and “unable to stand or walk on her own”.
While talking to the woman, the officer noticed that she was unsteady on her feet, swayed while standing still, and slurred her words as she spoke. When asked for her age, the woman claimed to be 21 and provided an obviously fake date of birth. Upon further investigation, the officer discovered that she was actually 18. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Possession of Alcohol by a Minor and Giving False Name/DOB to Law Enforcement.

Officers responded to an address on Miller Avenue several times during the night in reference to reports of juveniles partying, fighting, and lighting off illegal fireworks from the street.
During the final call, officers met with a representative of the rental company who evicted the juveniles from the property.
A report was filed and no further action was taken during that time.

Officers responded to a local bar in reference to a man who was too intoxicated to remember his name or where he was staying.
While speaking with our team, the bartender stated that the man had walked in and ordered a “PBR”, but that she refused to serve him due to his level of intoxication. When officers attempted to speak with the man in question, he was only able to grunt in response. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Public Drunkenness.

One of our officers stopped a golf cart for driving the wrong way on a one way and driving on the sidewalk.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that she slurred her words as she spoke. There were also two open containers of alcohol on the cart in plain view. When given the opportunity to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, the woman refused.
She was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Driver to Yield Sidewalk, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to a local restaurant in reference to a man walking out on a $150.00 bar tab.
While viewing surveillance footage, one of our officers immediately recognized the suspect as someone he had previously arrested the day before. While checking the area, our team found the man opening a tab at another local bar.
He was then placed under arrest and charged with Theft of Services.
