An officer responded to a local liquor store in reference to found property.
While speaking with our teammate, an employee provided her with a wallet which had been found in the parking lot. The officer then made contact with the rightful owner and reunited them with their property.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding.
While talking to the driver, the officer learned that the man’s license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

Later that evening, another officer spotted a vehicle traveling down Butler Avenue without taillights.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. During a search incident to arrest, officers discovered that the man was in possession of a white powdery substance believed to be Methadone. As a result, he was charged with a Taillight Violation, Driving While License Suspended, and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
During the investigation, our team learned that the man’s female passenger had an active warrant through another jurisdiction. She was also placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for her non-local warrant.

Shortly after midnight, one of our officers spotted a vehicle traveling down Butler Avenue with a defective brake light.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer learned that the driver’s license was suspended. She was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

Officers responded to a local bar in reference to a man who was attempting to drive away while under the influence.
Upon investigation, officers found the man passed out in the parking lot. After several unsuccessful attempts to help him find a safe place to stay for the evening, the officers placed the man under arrest for Public Drunkenness.

Officers responded to the Horsepen Point subdivision in reference to a possible incident of Criminal Trespass.
While speaking with our team, the caller complained about three juveniles who had been fishing in the private neighborhood and did not have permission to be there. When asked, the kids claimed that they had previously received permission from another homeowner but were unable to provide a name or address.
As a result, the juveniles were asked to leave the property and were advised to obtain proper permission before returning.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Two officers responded to the Tybee Island Pier and Pavilion in reference to individuals who were “disobeying some rules”.
While speaking with our team, an employee of the pier stated that the subjects in question had been using a kayak to drop bait. In doing so they were allegedly kayaking too close to the pier, a violation of the structure’s posted rules.
After speaking with all parties involved, the situation was mediated and no enforcement action was taken.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that she slurred her words as she spoke. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman admitted to “a margarita”.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that she had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI (Less Safe).

While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle failing to maintain its lane.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were bloodshot. There was also a smell similar to that of an adult drink flowing through her open window. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman admitted to “a couple of margaritas”.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, officers found additional evidence to suggest that she had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle suspected of being involved in two separate Hit-and-Runs that evening.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that eyes were watery and that she slurred her words as she spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic beverage wafting from the vehicle. When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman admitted to “two pineapple vodka drinks”.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Duty Upon Striking an Unattended Vehicle, Hit and Run, and DUI (Less Safe).

An officer stopped a vehicle driving the wrong way on a one way.
While talking to the driver, the officer learned that the man’s license was suspended. As officers placed him under arrest, the man tensed his muscles and attempted to prevent them from pulling his arms behind his back. As a result, he was charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Seatbelt Violation, Driving While License Suspended, and Obstruction.
