While on patrol, one of our officers found a wallet lying in the highway. Upon inspection, the officer found that it contained $26 in cash, a driver’s license, and various credit and debit cards. The wallet was then transported to the Tybee Island Police Department, where it was placed into an evidence locker for safekeeping.
The following day, the rightful owner came to the police department and retrieved his property. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked how much he had to drink that evening, the man denied consuming any alcohol.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, and DUI (Less Safe).

A concerned citizen came to the Tybee Island Police Department to turn in a cell phone they found.
After taking custody of the phone, one of our officers bagged it as found property and placed into an evidence locker for safekeeping. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were watery and that she slurred her words as she spoke. When asked, the woman stated that she had just left a local bar but denied drinking any alcohol. When the officer followed up by inviting her to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, she refused.
She was then placed under arrest. and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for Laying Drag and Failure to Maintain Lane.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked, the man admitted to having “a few shots of Tequila” in the hour leading up to the stop.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Laying Drag, Failure to Maintain Lane, and DUI (.08 or more).
