A native of Tybee Island, Tiffany Hayes has served with our department for 29 years. After beginning her career as a dispatcher at just 18 years of age, she would eventually rise through the ranks of Patrol, Criminal Investigations, and Command. In 2022, she was promoted to serve as the island’s first Assistant Police Chief. Just a year later, she would raise her right hand to be sworn in as our Chief of Police. Under her leadership, our agency has placed a renewed emphasis on continuous training, implemented cutting edge technology, and dedicated itself to community-focused policing.

In addition to her work at TIPD, Chief Hayes is a graduate of Columbus State University’s Command College and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Safety Administration. Other achievements include completing the Senior Management Institute for Police and graduating from the FBI National Academy as a member of Session 280.

Through it all, Chief Hayes continues to play an active role in shaping the future of law enforcement and currently serves as a board member of the Georgia Chapter of the FBI National Academy Associates.
