Officers responded to a report of a Child custody dispute. The situation was mediated, a report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

A man took a taxi from Savannah to the Tybee Island Police Department because he mistakenly believed our agency was in possession of some of his personal property.
After the man was told otherwise, the taxi driver informed our officers that the man was unable to pay for the ride. When asked if he would like to pursue criminal charges, the taxi driver confirmed that he would.
The man was then placed under arrest and charged with Theft of Services.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having a defective headlight.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana flowing through her open window. During the course of a subsequent search based on probable cause, a firearm was found underneath the front passenger seat. A check of the weapon’s serial number through the GCIC computer system revealed that it had been reported stolen.
Both, the driver and a passenger were placed under arrest and charged with Theft by Receiving (Felony).

Later that same morning, another officer stopped a vehicle for having a defective taillight.
While talking to the driver, the officer learned that his license was suspended. He was then placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

Officers responded to a local bar in reference to a fight that had just occurred.
While speaking with our team, the victim stated that she had been sitting at the bar, when another woman grabbed her by the hair and pulled her off her barstool. The woman then tried to drag the victim across the floor and towards the door, before being stopped by other customers.
During the course of the investigation witnesses AND the suspect confirmed the victim’s account of events. The suspect was then placed under arrest and charged with Simple Battery.

While investigating the above fight call, an officer learned that one of the witnesses had an active warrant through another jurisdiction.
The witness was then placed under arrest and transported to the Chatham County Detention Center to answer for their non-local warrant.

One of our officers responded to a residence on 2nd Avenue in reference to a neighborhood complaint.
While speaking with our teammate, the caller stated that her neighbor had both called her and walked over to her house to complain about her dog barking. She then asked that a report be filed in case she decides to take legal action.
Officers then spoke with the neighbor, who stated that the dog in question can frequently be heard barking, and had previously chased his cats and son.
A report was filed, and both parties were provided with information for follow-up.

While on patrol, one of our officers spotted a vehicle driving the wrong way on Tybrisa, before turning onto Butler Avenue and into oncoming traffic.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were “glossy”, and that he seemed to have trouble answering simple questions.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest, and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Driving on the Wrong Side of the Road, Expired Registration, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers received a report in reference to a possible theft.
While speaking with our teammate, the victim stated that she had left her purse in the floorboard of her friend’s car while she walked to the beach. Upon her return, the purse was gone.
A report was filed, and the victim was provided with information for follow-up.
