One of our officers responded to a local motel in reference to found property.
During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that cleaning staff had found a firearm that had been left behind by a previous guest. Motel employees stated that they had attempted to call the guest several times but had been unable to make contact.
The officer then took custody of the weapon and transported it to the Tybee Island Police Department for safekeeping. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for having an expired registration.
During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the driver’s license was also suspended, and there was an open container of alcohol in the front passenger floorboard. The driver was subsequently placed under arrest and charged accordingly.

Shortly before 11:00PM, one of our officers spotted a vehicle traveling down Butler Avenue without taillights.
After stopping the vehicle, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were watery, and that he slurred his words when he spoke. When asked how much alcohol he had that evening, the man replied that he “didn’t have too much”. During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with a Taillight Violation and DUI (.08 or more).

While on patrol, one of our officers watched a man park his golf cart in the middle of the road, get out, and turn his amber light on. After the man got back into the driver’s seat, he began to drive the cart in the center of the roadway and failed to stop for a stop sign at Lovell and 15th.
After pulling the cart over, the officer noticed that the driver’s eyes were watery and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked how much alcohol he had consumed, the man replied that he drank three beers earlier that evening during a football game.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Gold Cart Violations, Improper Stopping/Parking in the Roadway, Failure to Stop at a Stop Sign, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to signal a turn.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage seeping through his open window. When asked, the man admitted to having “three or so” drinks during an earlier football game.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the cart while under the influence of alcohol. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Signal and DUI (.08 or more).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were watery and that he slurred his words as he spoke. When asked, the man admitted to having “One crown and coke” an hour before the stop.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane, Open Container, and DUI (.08 or more).

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for driving the wrong way on a one-way street.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink billowing through his open window. When asked, the man claimed that he had not had any alcohol since the day prior.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, however, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Wrong Way on a One Way, Open Container, and DUI (Less Safe).
