From trouble to tragedy, and heroism to happiness, the men and women of the Tybee Island Police Department have experienced it all. Throughout the years, one thing has become perfectly clear: The police and the community are BETTER TOGETHER. With that sentiment in mind, we’re proud to announce the Tybee Island Police Department Association’s “Better Together” Scholarship.

Every year, this program will award one of two $500 reimbursement scholarships to the dependents of City of Tybee Island employees and other students living within the 31328 area code. The application process is open to students from grades K-12, and the money may be used towards private school tuition, summer camps or tutorials. In order to qualify, students must complete an application, and submit something in their favorite form of communication, demonstrating “Why I like to help others, and how this scholarship will help me”. Examples include drawings, essays, or other forms of media. In addition, the applicant must submit a paid receipt for reimbursement and a copy of their guardian’s Government-issued identification card showing proof of residency. Winners will be chosen on a lottery basis during a Tybee Island City Council meeting. In the event that the winner is unable to accept the award, the money will be presented to the next successful chosen applicant.

In order to qualify, applications must be received by August 1st, 2023. Please submit your applications and required documentation to the Tybee Island Police Department, Attention LT. Emory Randolph.
