A local business owner contacted the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to a theft.
While speaking with one of our teammates, the complainant reported that someone had made multiple fraudulent charges on their business account. A report was filed, and the case remains under investigation.

A concerned citizen came to the police department to turn in a pair of sunglasses that were found near 2nd Avenue and Butler.
After taking custody of the glasses, an officer placed them into a property locker for safekeeping. A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

While on patrol, one of our officers was flagged down by a concerned citizen in reference to found property.
While speaking with our teammate, the citizen stated that they found a wallet in a neighboring jurisdiction but had been unable to find an officer with that agency to give it to. Upon closer inspection, the officer found that the wallet contained a Georgia driver’s license. Using the emergency contact information associated with the license, the officer was able to call the rightful owner and inform them of the whereabouts of the wallet.
The owner came to the Tybee Island Police Department and retrieved their property the following day. A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that her eyes were “glassy” and that her clothing was disheveled. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage wafting through her open window.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the woman had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. She was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding and DUI.

A resident contacted the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to suspicious activity.
While speaking with our teammate, the caller stated that a man walked onto their property just before 2:00AM, took a photo of their home, and left.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for failing to maintain its lane.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed this his eyes were bloodshot and that he slurred his words as he spoke. There was also an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink billowing from within the vehicle. During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Failure to Maintain Lane and DUI (Less Safe).
