• One of our officers stopped a golf cart due to the fact that the driver was not wearing a seatbelt.

While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that she slurred her words as she spoke. He also noted that her eyes were red and that there was an odor similar to that of an alcoholic drink billowing from her breath. At one point, the woman claimed that she was “going to call her attorney”. After being advised that she didn’t have the right to a call on a traffic stop, she decided to use her phone to record instead.

When asked how much alcohol she had that evening, the woman replied that she “doesn’t answer questions”. When asked if she was willing to participate in Standardized Field Sobriety Testing, she indicated that she “preferred not to”.

She was then placed under arrest, and charged with a Seatbelt Violation, No License on Person, and DUI (Less Safe).

Approaching the vehicle, the manager asked for the items back, informing the thief that she was prepared to call the police. In response, the woman threw the stolen flip-flops at the manager, telling her, “Do what you have to do”. The vehicle then drove away with the hoodie still inside.
