An officer responded to an address on 2nd Street in reference to a possible incident of Criminal Trespass. While speaking with our teammate, the caller stated that someone had been cutting a palm tree on their property without permission.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

Officers responded to a local souvenir store in reference to a possible theft. While speaking with the officers, the store manager described two individuals that she believed shoplifted from the store and asked that they be banned from all of her company’s properties. Officers located the suspects and advised them that they would be subject to arrest if they ever returned to any of the company’s nine locations.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken at that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for a “Hands Free” violation.
During the course of the investigation, the officer learned that the vehicle did not have valid insurance, and the driver had an active warrant through another jurisdiction. The driver was then placed under arrest for a Hands-Free violation, No Insurance, No License on Person, and his Non-Local Warrant.

A concerned citizen came to the Tybee Island Police Department in reference to found property.
While speaking with our team, the citizen stated that they found a debit card stuck inside a parking kiosk. After freeing the card, they brought it to the police. An officer then took custody of the card and placed it into a property locker for safekeeping.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

While on an unrelated traffic stop, one of our officers was approached by a concerned citizen regarding found property.
While speaking with the officer, the citizen stated that they had found a wallet. Upon inspection, the officer found that the wallet contained two different driver’s licenses, and multiple miscellaneous cards. The officer then took custody of the items and transported them to the Tybee Island Police Department where they were placed into a property locker for safekeeping.
A report was filed, and no further action was taken during that time.

One of our officers stopped a vehicle for speeding.
While talking to the driver, the officer noticed that his eyes were watery, and that there was a crushed beer can stuffed between his seat and the center console. There was also an odor similar to that of an adult beverage wafting through his open window. When asked how much alcohol he had that day, the man admitted to having four drinks while on the beach.
During the course of the subsequent investigation, the officer found additional evidence to suggest that the man had been operating the vehicle while under the influence. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Speeding. Open Container, No Driver’s License, and DUI (Less Safe).

Officers responded to several calls about the same disorderly person throughout the night.
During the final call, the suspect had been kicked out of his hotel room by his companion and stood in the hallway screaming and banging on the door. He was then placed under arrest and charged with Disorderly Conduct.
